There is no doubt that using your home theater in any form of competitive/online gaming will put you at a disadvantage when playing against other pc players. Gaming on a home theater is infinitely more comfortable using a controller vs mouse and keyboard which will automatically put you at a disadvantage. Also, the amount of money you would have to shell out for a projector that could stack up to the response time of a gaming monitor would be in the thousands. This is not to say it’s unplayable, but for hardcore gamers, these drawbacks might scare them away from considering a home theater gaming setup. However, I believe there are some serious advantages of gaming in a home theater depending on your play style.
